The term “Jhatpat” is a colloquial Hindi and Urdu term that translates to “quick” or “speedy.” Combined with “Connection,” it emphasizes the rapid service for electricity connections, aiming to streamline the process and reduce time wastage.

Purpose of the Jhatpat Connection

The Jhatpat Connection Scheme is designed for all residents of Uttar Pradesh, including those Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL). It provides a quick and legal way to obtain a new electricity connection through the UP government’s initiative. However, this scheme is limited to connections with a load capacity ranging from 1 KW to 20 KW.

  • Domestic (BPL Card Holder): 1 KW load only
  • Domestic (Non-BPL): 1 KW to 500 KW
  • Commercial (Non-Domestic): 1 KW to 20 KW
  • Industrial: 1 KW to 20 KW
  • Private Institutional: 1 KW to 20 KW
  • Temporary Connection: 1 KW to 20 KW

How to Apply for Jhatpat Connections?

If you want to apply for a new electricity connection under the Jhatpat Connection Scheme, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the UPPCL website, also known as the Jhatpat portal, at upenergy.in/uppcl/en.
  2. Navigate to Connection Services: On the homepage, go to the Consumer Corner section and click on Connection Service.
  3. Apply for New Electricity Connection: Find and click on the “Apply for New Electricity Connection” button.
  4. New User Registration: If you are a first-time user, select the ‘For New Registration Click Here’ option. Existing users can log in with their credentials.
  5. Fill Out the Registration Form: Enter your details such as name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number. Verify the captcha and click on the register button.
  6. OTP Verification: Submit the OTP received on your registered mobile number to complete the verification.
  7. Receive Login Credentials: After verification, you will get your unique Jhatpat login credentials on your mobile number.
  8. Log In and Submit Documents: Log into your account, provide all required documents, and submit the application.
  9. Verification and Confirmation: Wait for UPPCL to verify your details and documents. Once verified, you will receive a confirmation via SMS or email.
  10. Installation of Electricity Connection: After receiving confirmation, the electricity connection meter will be installed within 10 days at your provided address.
